We are preparing to launch a design competition for final year degree architecture students and recent graduates to produce masterplan concepts for a maritime park at Govan Graving Docks.
The brief for the competition is expected to be issued in March 2017 with the competition to run during the 2017-18 academic year.
We would like to hear from academic departments and students who are interested in participating in these competitions, as well as from professional architects interested in taking part in a judging panel or steering group for the competitions.
The students work will be displayed in a public venue for community and stakeholder feedback which will be used to inform the preparation of a finalised masterplan for a martitime park on the site.
Govan Graving Docks is Category-A listed which rules out making any permanent modifications to the structure of the dry docks.
We aim to restrict permanent buildings to the Govan Road edge of the site.
A nature park area will be included as part of the brief taking in the land around the tidal basin.
